The Practice

The world is in a constant state of transition.

Studio Du Preez is a creative practice dedicated to capturing the environmental and human narratives that define our time—and those quietly slipping from view. From the unhurried rhythms of the pre-commercialised Mara to the gilded winter stillness of a liquid city, the work forms an ongoing visual inquiry into the poetry of existence.

Each essay in this collection is an invitation to pause and pay attention. Rather than offering conclusions, the work asks for time—time to look closely, to notice what endures, and to recognise what is already passing. These are stories shaped by observation, restraint, and care, made for those who value depth over haste.

The Archive at Studio Du Preez is a living record. Many of these essays capture environments and cultures in states of transition, documenting the world as it was before the tides of global discovery and commercial change.

The Other Two-Thirds blends art, stories, and a dash of ‘meh,’ served up with wisdom borrowed from my reading pile, behind-the-scenes field notes, and early access to my latest work.
